"One of the best b and b's I have ever stayed at. Certainly the most hospitable folks running a b and b; they are constantly asking if you are hungry even if it's not breakfast time; in fact they gave us food when we arrived late Friday night. It is quiet except for the occasional reassuring "country noise" from the roosters outside and grandfather clock inside. The room was large and the bed very, very comfortable. Located in a beautiful setting.

Me and my fiancé stayed with Ralph and Gail in early August 2013. We loved the stay! Our primary reason for the visit was to spend a couple days at Kings Dominion, which is only about 12 minutes down the road, with Shady Acres having an perfect location. If you are looking for lodging accommodations near the shopping mall or next chain restaurant, Shady Acres is not for you (the home is located at the end of a remote road) which is one of the main reasons we choose to stay there. We could not of asked for better hosts, which created a very relaxed environment. The room was clean with its own bath, the bed was comfortable and even your own personal fire place.

Gail Olberg did a wonderful job, she walked us through everything, Very prompt, very attentive to our needs. I Highly Recommend her for your wedding.

My husband and I stayed here for our Anniversary last year and it was truly R&R. Just what we needed. And, we couldn't ask for better Hostesses. Thanks Ralph and Gail for a great time! Oh, and the food is "over the top".

Brief as it was, we really enjoyed our visit. You and Ralph are the best. I will let you know when I can arrange a Girl trip !!! Thank you for a great time (not to mention the delicious asparagus light bread).

The owners Gail and Ralph make you feel like friends not just guests. This place is small and quaint but in our opinion the hospitality is better than many of the hotels we've stayed in, even the higher end ones! If we are ever back this way we would definitely stay here again!!

Gail was super helpful from the moment we called. She sought to make it very personal for us even asking what our colors were so that she could match! She was a wonderful speaker and the presentation left tears in everyone's eyes. If I had to do my ceremony over I would hire her again in a heartbeat.

Our wedding venue gave us the number to call Gail and from the first conversation, we knew that we wanted her to officiate our wedding. She was very professional and helped us create the type of ceremony we wanted. She was punctual, well-spoken and caring. Our families were very impressed with her verses, poems and prayers (I heard many guests describe them as thoughtful and beautiful). She made our rehearsal and ceremony go very smoothly and I honestly can't say enough about how grateful I am to have worked with her. We plan on taking a trip to Shady Acres Bed and Breakfast, LLC soon! Thank you so much, you made our day so wonderful!

Gail was willing to meet us down by the James River at the Pipeline, not an everyday ceremony venue, that's for sure. She did a great job communicating during the planning and helped us understand our options for the ceremony, location, etc. Her expertise was so valuable as we didn't even know what we wanted or what our options were for an intimate ceremony like this one. Gail pulled together so nicely. The service was so well catered to us and it was beautiful!

Gail was an absolutely ideal officiant! She was professional, courteous, and we actually learned a lot from her regarding wedding ceremonies in general. She was willing to work with our requests and needs. At first, we weren't going to do a rehearsal and ended up deciding to do one last minute, and she was happy to oblige us by attending. During the rehearsal, she was incredibly helpful in aiding our group through the motions in a calm and reassuring manner. On top of that, we were happy to see that she was able to provide a range of options for the ceremony. As a secular couple, we were thrilled to see that she could cater to our needs, while also paying tribute to some of our religious family members. We did a spiritual ceremony and loved the readings she selected, one of which was by Mark Twain. Also, we really loved the fact that she supports diversity and nontraditional couples. Would definitely recommend!

We had a wonderful experience getting married at Shady Acres Bed and Breakfast by Gail Olberg this weekend! My now husband and I decided to elope and it was very important for us to have a simple and stress free ceremony. Gail was the first to contact us through Thumbtack and was flexible enough to schedule us in just four days later! Even with only a few days to prepare, Gail made sure to not only give us many options but also gave us so much information on the entire process during our consult. We decided to have our ceremony at the bed and breakfast that Gail and her husband own and run. The land around is calm and serene and their grounds were beautifully maintained. All of their chickens were an added bonus for us too, especially the hens strolling about with their adorable chicks. For our actual ceremony, we really didn't give much for Gail to work with (no rings, guests, or photographer). Somehow though, she was able to make us feel so special and relaxed. Her husband was even nice enough to snap some photos of us during the ceremony so we could have a few photos our day. The best part of our experience was being able to chat with the two of them after our ceremony for close to 2 hours about life. We never felt rushed and they were so welcoming the entire time. We would highly recommend Gail and her services to anyone and can't thank her enough for such a memorable day.
