Of course you can throw a wedding shower! It is called a proxy shower. If the bride and groom cannot attend. Do make sure to figure out a solution on how to send the gifts to the bride. One way to solve this problem is to have everyone come with their gifts unwrapped so that they can show what they got the bride. Then the host or hostess can provide wrapping paper and etc. to wrap the gifts to later pack them in a box and send as one big package. You usually call the bride or the couple at a proxy shower so that they can thank their friends and family for the gifts.
