Ideally, we would all have our weddings run smoothly without complications or snaffoos. (What a fun word!) However, this is rarely the case. Many prepared brides or their maids of honor come to the ceremony equipped with a bridal emergency kit. These kits help to quickly tame any wild issues that may arise so that the bride can have an unspoiled, wonderful wedding ceremony.
"What goes into a bridal emergency kit?" This is the question on everyone's mind. There are many items that can calm a range of situations. Here is a list of our favorite items to carry with you on your wedding day:
- Fingernail clippers. While most nervous brides probably won't chew their manicured nails, having fingernail clippers available is a very handy trick for dealing with snags in the otherwise beautiful wedding dress. These are also great tools for runaway cuticles.
- Bobby pins. This may seem like something that your wedding day hairstylist should carry plenty of, but it never hurts to have some for yourself. If you lose a curl moments before the organist begins the Wedding March, simply put it back in place with a bobby pin. These nifty little hair accessories have a variety of clever uses. Do not be surprised if you find more than one use for bobby pins on your wedding day.
- Extra make up. Whether you use a professional wedding makeup artist or do it yourself, it is always a good idea to have some extra cosmetics handy for last-minute touch ups. Plus, the bright lights of photos can often increase the temperature in the room. If your wedding photographer opts for pre-ceremony photos, having touch up makeup available can prevent spending your ceremony with a less-than-perfect complexion.
- A comb and a lint roller. One for hair, one for hair. A small comb can easily be tucked away into an accessory bag and carried easily. A comb or small hairbrush will give you some leverage in case of fly-aways or bobby pins that fail to hold. A lint roller is every girl's must-have especially on the wedding day. This will keep the focus on the way that you look in your stunning wedding dress and not the way that Fido showed his congratulations.
- A stain removing pen. There are many brands of stain removing pens but most have the same affect. Keeping one in your accessory bag will prevent you or your bridesmaids from any embarrassing moments during the wedding reception.
