Our Story – Seth and Megan Alkire

Seth and I actually grew up together at First Southern Baptist Church but never really knew each other! He was the drummer for the youth band and I knew I loved him when I saw that shaggy hair. We started dating in 2011 and got engaged September 3, 2015!

Our proposal is one of my favorites… We had been talking about getting married soon so I knew it was coming up. He wanted to throw me a birthday dinner but I hated having attention only on me so I thought it would be perfect to invite my best friend Kelsey to be a part of it too since her birthday was only a few days away! I was excited because now it would be a birthday dinner party for both of us. 

The Surprise Engagement Party
The birthday dinner was approaching and I had to choose an outfit. I had a dress picked out for the dress I wanted to get engaged in but while picking out my outfit my roommates convinced me 100% that he was not going to propose. Seth told my roommates to make it their mission to convince me that it wasn't going to happen. We all arrived at the restaurant and we began eating. Then Seth told me he wanted to thank everyone for coming and asked me to stand up with him.

The Proposal
While Seth was thanking everyone he turned and looked at me and told me he loved me then quoted Proverbs 18:22, "He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the LORD." Looking at me he said that he had found a good thing and got down on his knee and asked me if I would marry him… and I said YES!!!! and then lost it and cried… But only tears of absolute joy.

Happily Ever After
Our relationship has had its wonderful moments and harder moments, but God is the rock. Without God leading us, we would be lost. Seth and I will be getting married in May and I can't wait to start our lives together as MR. AND MRS. SETH ALKIRE!
