The Beginning
Jack and I met at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR. He was dateless for his Sigma Chi formal sophomore year. I was a freshmen looking for a date and I was in the right place at the right time.
One night when we were sitting in my friend Ashley’s room and there was a knock on her door. I answered it and one of Jack’s friends was standing in the hallway with a card that read, “Come to the hallway.” I walked down the hallway to see Jack standing with a large bouquet of flowers and a sign with the question, “Will you go to formal with me?” Of course I said YES!
The Proposal
Jack and I spent two years together at A-State and the more time we spent together the more I fell in love with him. Jack graduated and had to move to Mississippi for graduate school. Having a long-distance relationship was hard but we planned several weekend trips.
One afternoon Jack called and asked if I wanted to go to Memphis. He sounded so excited and I had a feeling that he was going to propose….We ate at Houston’s and then shopped around. Still no ring. I was becoming disappointed because I didn’t think the proposal was going to happen. On the way home though Jack pulled over and asked me to put on a red bandanna. My heart was beating so fast and I had no idea what was happening. We drove for about twenty minutes and then stopped.
When I took off the bandanna we were parked in front of Sissy’s Log Cabin. We tried on wedding rings and engagement rings and I thought that was the big surprise. Then we went to get some ice cream and I thought the date was over but when we got back in the car Jack asked me to put on the blindfold again!
At this point I was totally confused and had no idea where we were going. When I could finally take off the blindfold we were at my friend’s gorgeous loft downtown. Jack lead me up a ladder and we watched a beautiful sunset overlooking Downtown Jonesboro. Then Jack handed me a letter from my father and one from him. After reading them Jack got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Of course, I said YES!!
Happily Ever After
Our wedding is going to be held in September at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stuttgart, AR. I started the wedding planning process about two months ago and Wedding and Party Network has helped tremendously. I could easily find local vendors that fit my budget in one place. I would definitely recommend Wedding and Party Network for anyone that is recently engaged!
Stay tuned to read all about my wedding in September!
