Flowers and ribbon are a very beautiful, yet very common decoration combination for wedding pews, alters and arches. Over the past few years, florists and wedding planners have started branching out with resources used for decorating the church for the wedding ceremony. Fresh flowers are the traditional foundation for wedding decorations; but unique ornamentation such as glittered spheres, real bay leaf garland, twigs and other unusual items can be used as well.
A trend that has been developing over the last few years is the “naturally glamorous" theme. This entails earthy tones with natural textiles along with shimmer and glitter. For instance, I saw a great set up not too long ago for a wedding held in the fall that used strands of real leaf garland on the pews and on the archway. This was embellished with twigs that had been sprayed with very fine gold glitter, large feathers, and deep brown and rust ornaments (yes Christmas tree ornaments). It was gorgeous, modern, and very simple. These natural elements work marvelously with a variety of wedding flowers. Other colors could be used with these items too depending on the wedding colors and the time of year the ceremony is being held. Fresh flowers can be woven into garland all down the aisle and on the arch. This would be a beautiful touch if your budget allowed.
