Not all cakes are created equal. There are no rules to follow when creating your unique wedding cake. Yes, you want your cake to be unique and special – just like you! Generally speaking, you should order your wedding cake 4 – 6 months in advance and take your time when shopping for the perfect baker. There are many aspects to consider before making your final decision. Your wedding cake is the centerpiece of your reception. So, make sure it screams out who you are and have fun with it. Your cake can be loud and bright, or soft and elegant.

When you are designing your wedding cake you will decide on the design, size and number of tiers, the flavor and filling, type of frosting, accents and details and finally the topper. If you decide on a more traditional and elegant style and design for your cake, you can still have a creative and edgy personalized topper. Why not put a touch of humor, spunk or creativity on top?

Inspirational Friday – Rainbow Wedding

Every Friday, Wedding and Party Network will be choosing a theme or color and give you inspirational photos. We want to help give you inspiration for your next event, wedding or party. So, take a look and we hope to give you a bit of inspiration when planning your wedding or party. Our inspirational board will give everyone inspiration on rainbow weddings! Who doesn't love a rainbow? Your wedding day is a day to celebrate the bond between you and your spouse. A day to celebrate your new journey together. So, what better way than to include vibrant colors to express your happiness? Between the invitations, food, decor, cake and clothing – you can arrange for a multi-faceted, one-of-a-kind wedding that reflects you and your bright personality.

Here are some great ideas to turn your Fall Wedding into a rainbow of delight.

Meshing together different colors can easily get out of hand, but knowing just the right amount can turn an average wedding into something your guests will never forget! You don't have to use every color in the rainbow, you can choose three or four colors, bright and vibrant colors. Then, just run with it.

Invitations: You will want your wedding invitations to look a little bohemian, with lightly muted, yet vibrant colors. Alternate the color of the writing with the color of the patterns and find a subtle but exciting in-between.

The Dress: You want your wedding dress magical for your perfect day. So, find a beautiful white or off-white dress and accent it with one of the colors from your scheme. A bright scarf around your waist, rainbow feathered hair clips, bright nail polish or beautiful rainbow jewelry will add just the right amount of flair. A bright pair of shoes will look fabulous peeking out from under your dress.

Bridesmaids and Groomsmen: Different color dresses will look great when matching the groomsmen ties or suspenders! Multi-colored sunglasses will add a nice touch for the groomsmen as well.

Flowers: Your flowers will tie everything together, especially when using all the colors from your theme. You can create lavish and vibrant centerpieces and wedding bouquets that will leave everyone with a smile.

Reception: If you are having an indoor reception, you can use different colored lights for the dance floor or have them shining on the walls to create a fun and bright atmosphere.

Menu: When choosing your rainbow menu, use brightly colored foods. Your desert and appetizers can include fresh fruit or a serve yourself candy buffet.

The Cake: If a rainbow cake is too much for you, you can create a beautiful and traditional wedding cake. However, the key will be to dye the inside of the cake with your wedding colors. No one will see the rainbow inside until you cut the first piece.

Music: A great version of Some Where Over The Rainbow will bring everything together.

Butterfly Release: Top it all off with a butterfly release. Release beautiful, bright, and vibrant colored butterflies to represent a new beginning for the happy couple.

Cake Week – Delightful Treats As Favors!

You are planning the perfect special event or party. You want to give your guests something that they can remember how special your event was with memories. However, do better than that. Send guests home with a special party favor that they will enjoy at home. Letting your guest take a favor home with them will truly remind them of how amazing your party or wedding was, it will bring them back to that very moment. As a part of Wedding And Party Network's cake week, we've found wonderful wedding or party favors that you can do with cake and other sweets! How fun and tasty will that be for your guests to take home with them?

Great Party & Wedding Favors

Wedding Cake Tower – What's a wedding cake tower you're asking? Well, it's basically sugar cookies stacked in the form of a wedding cake. All you do is take 3 sugar cookies in a large size, 3 in a medium size and 3 in a smaller size. Ice each one of them with white icing and then stack them according to size. It will create a tier effect that looks like a wedding cake.

Place these in beautiful plastic containers and tie it up with a ribbon. These wedding favors will make absolutely wonderful wedding favors, as well as providing an amazing presentation.

Cupcakes In A Jar – Everyone enjoys cupcakes. Well, why not serve them in a jar for a tasty treat they can take home? All you do is find cute jars, bake cupcakes according to directions and find some colorful icing and ribbon. After the cupcakes have cooled, layer the cupcake then icing and add some sprinkles or whatever else you'd like in the jar.

As part of cake week, you can watch our how-to video below. You can use whatever type of cake mix you would like and even dye it with food coloring to get the colors of your event. Also, do the same thing with the icing. That way, if you have more than one color to your party or wedding theme, you can combine the two to create a favor fit for just that. Cake Week – Wedding Cake Ideas!

You've had a beautiful wedding ceremony and now it's time to enjoy yourself at the wedding reception. So, what's one of the first things that guests notice as they walk into your beautiful wedding reception? Yes, they may check out and see what's to eat and take a look at how you've arranged everything, but they're mainly interested in the wedding cake. You need to have a wedding cake that represents the theme of your wedding and a cake that will wow them! So, as part of Wedding And Party Network's cake week, we've come up with a few ideas that will amaze your guests at your wedding.

Wedding Cake Ideas

Wedding Cupcakes – Instead of going with the traditional wedding cake, choose wedding cupcakes! Cupcakes are simply great for any event! You can feature them in a variety of flavors to suit everyone's taste and are designed to fit the theme of your wedding.

Plus, you won't have the added stress of trying to find someone to cut and serve the cake. You'll be able to feature, strawberry, vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, oreo, banana or butter pecan cupcakes to your guests, something that you wouldn't be able to do with a wedding cake. They make a wonderful bite sized cake that guests can pop into their mouth.

Miniature Wedding Cakes –Another great idea that your local baker can create is miniature wedding cakes. If you'd rather settle on a 2 tiered wedding cake, serve mini replicas of your wedding cake to guests. How cute would that be? You can feature different flavors to appease each guest and have it created to look like a wedding cake with a cake topper and all. If you're serving up lots of delicious food, you can place to-go boxes for the mini wedding cakes and they can serve as part of your wedding favors.

Cake Pops

Cake Pops – If you want a delicious bite that guests can easily pop in their mouth while mingling, cake pops are a great idea! As part of cake week, we've featured the how-to video for cake pops below. They are extremely delicious and you can come up with lots of ideas to make them your own. First off, cake pops are cake with icing mixed into it which are then dipped into chocolate.

You can use milk chocolate, white chocolate or use food coloring to dye the white chocolate to fit your wedding colors. You can even press the cake mixture into miniature cookie cutters to create fun designs. Get a miniature wedding cake cutter and mold the cake into that and stick it on a lollipop stick. You can even decorate it with a cute little heart topper and sprinkles to make it look like a wedding cake even more.

Make It Your Own –The main thing to remember when designing your wedding cake is to always create with you in mind. If you're the traditional bride, stick with the traditional wedding cake and your colors. However, if that's just not who you are, create a wedding cake that fits you. Maybe purple and green are your favorite colors or you both enjoy a certain sport, incorporate it into your wedding cake. Remember, it's your wedding day.

Cake Week – Unique Cupcake Ideas For Any Occasion

This week, Wedding And Party Network is kicking off the start of cupcake week! We have tons of unique ideas that we will be talking about and showing you through our videos! Cakes and cupcakes are such a great accessory to any party of wedding. You can truly make them your own and show off your personality and theme through cakes. So, for our first day of cake week, we are going to talk all about the fun things you can do with cupcakes!

A Variety Of Different Flavors & Icing

Wedding Cupcakes

Cupcakes are such a great treat for your guests to enjoy! They're simple and easy enough to pop in your mouth as you go. Plus, you can feature them in different flavors to appease all sorts of taste buds. You can feature them in vanilla, white cake, chocolate, strawberry, banana, cherry, butter pecan and pair them with delectable icing to go along perfectly with the flavor of the cake.

Your local bakery can come up with lots of variations of cupcakes, you just need to visit them and see! Now that we've covered the basics on the fact that you can feature cupcakes in a ton of flavors paired with different icing and are a delectable bite to pop in your mouth, what can you do with them to make them your own?

Get Creative

Are you wanting to use cupcakes for your wedding? Great idea! Again, you'll have guests at your wedding that don't share the same taste buds. Therefore, you can feature many flavors for your guests to try and you'll satisfy each and every one of them. However, get creative when showing off your cupcakes. Use fun cupcake liners or toppers.

You can feature cupcake liners that have your wedding colors or party colors in it. Also, another way to incorporate the theme of your party or wedding is with cupcake toppers. You can create fun little shapes out of fondant to place on top of your wedding cupcakes, come up with cupcake toppers that feature your name and wedding date or feature beautiful edible pearls or flowers.

If you're wedding colors are pink and green, feature a strawberry cupcake with green icing and a pink cupcake topper. Maybe you're throwing a nautical themed party, so, feature a vanilla cupcake with white or blue icing and place a fun lifesaver or anchor on top! You've got delicious tasting and creative cupcakes that represents you, now all you need to do is display them. Use a cupcake tower, set them out in a unique pattern or send them home with guests as part as a wedding or party favor. Use a round, square or a unique shaped cupcake tower to display your cupcakes on. You can decorate each tier with paper or paint to fit the theme of your event. Create a unique shape for your cupcakes.

Create a tree out of wood and place your cupcakes on that if you're having a all-natural wedding. Are you throwing a princess birthday party? Well create a large princess wand and have side tiers going up it to place princess themed cupcakes on! Again, there are so many unique ideas out there, you just have to think outside the box and get a little creative.

Cupcakes are great accents to have at any party and all you have to do is get a little creative with them, or have your local bakery. They are fun little bites that can be placed in the mouth to appease all taste buds. Come up with unique taste combination, as well as coming up with a creative design that fits your event.

Inspirational Friday – Black Swan Inspired!

So, take a look and we hope to give you a bit of inspiration when planning your wedding or party. Our inspirational board will give everyone inspiration from the movie, "Black Swan". This movie was a huge success and has been the talk of this past award season. So, we thought we would bring you inspiration through this movie, which is a play on the colors black & white.

The colors black and white are so classic and elegant. Incorporating these colors separate with other colors or even together will have your wedding looking flawless. You can incorporate it into your bouquets, wedding cake, wedding gown and anything else you may want. Place beautiful feathers in your wedding cake, bridal bouquets and even dress to get the "Black Swan" theme at your wedding. Add the colors, black & white and some feathers and you'll perfect this theme in no time!
