It's in the details – For this party, it's all about the color white, which is captured through each little detail that you have at your party. Make sure your guests get the sense of a lavish white party through the details. Here are a few tips:

  • White party invitations – Make it known that this is a white party and they must wear white. You can be strict with this rule, or be lenient in letting your guests wear color in their shoes and accessories. It's all up to you. Just make sure you set the ground rules and let them know through the invitation.
  • White party decorations – When you think of a white party, you think of it being a lavish party. So, create that. However, it doesn't have to be expensive. Create elegant flower arrangements. Just sit down with your local florist and tell them exactly the look you are going after with your party. Also, think about using white linens, draping them throughout your party and using back lighting, white balloons or white lanterns.
  • White party food – Think about featuring canapés, which are seen as elegant food. Think about serving lighter colored vegetables, white dips, white doughnuts, white cakes and cupcakes. May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor

Have you ever had a DVD release party? Well, one of the most popular movies of this year is being released August 18th. So, what better way to celebrate than with a DVD release party? The Hunger Games is set to release August 18th and is a hit among almost all age groups. This is a great time to get your friends together and re watch the movie together and share your opinions and thoughts. Wedding and Party Network has a few tips on setting the theme for this party.

Bring this movie to life through your party. First off, find inspiration from the book and cater your party completely to this movie. So, first things first, start finding party decoration inspiration from the movie.

Party Decorations – Think about the prominent things you remember from the book. The Mockingjay, bow and arrows, the districts, coal mining, fire from her dress, the parachutes, cornucopia or the haute couture that was displayed in the capital are all great inspiration for your party.

  • Food Table – Create a backdrop for the table. Use strips of orange and yellow ribbon to create the fire scheme and hang a photo of the Mokingjay on it. Also, use crates to create that rustic vibe, baskets and don't forget the bow and arrows. You can easily make arrows from sticks and feathers and use them as a centerpiece. Also, during the games, they received supplies from small parachutes. So, include this as part of your backdrop. Hang silver parachutes with food attached to them as part of your decor. Don't forget the cute table signs that read, District 12, Stay Alive – Haymitch Abernathy or May the odds be ever in your favor.
  • Haute Couture Dessert – Take a different spin on your dessert table by modeling it after the capital. They were all about crazy, bright and colorful makeup and clothing. Think about creating lavish desserts and have fun metallic colors in everything.

What to serve – What did the movie talk about? Well, during the actual games, they struggled for food and had to make best of what they had in the arena. However, you can also look to what they served at the capital. Where did Peeta's family work? Think about all these things and find inspiration for your party food. You could also talk to your local caterer and may even luck out in the fact that they have read the book or seen the movie and discuss with them about some party food you can serve. However, you can also create some yummy treats yourself.

  • Peeta's Family Bakery – They owned a bakery, so create cookies or bread and stick them in a white bag with twine. You can go with cute, however, think about the book and match it to that.
  • Coal Mining – In Katniss & Peeta's district, they were known for their mining. Have you seen rock candy or those chocolate rocks? Serve that for your party. Everyone enjoys some type of candy to snack on. You can even create cupcakes that are black to represent the coal, of course, featuring fun little cupcake toppers to make them stand out.
  • Bread, Apples & Goat Cheese – Yes, they ate this in the book. So, why not serve this at your party?
  • Berry Inspired Food – Do you remember what role the berries played in this book? They had a role in being poisonous. So, create a berry dessert, like a pie or even cupcakes.
  • Fire inspired food – Katniss was known as the Girl on Fire. So, use that as inspiration for your food by serving fondue or setting up a s'mores bar. You can ever take it a different way by serving spicy foods.
  • Soup & Stew – Again, these two items made an appearance in the book too. They ate lamb stew for dinner one night and had soup sent to them during the games. If you are actually wanting to have a meal, serve these items.

So, now it's time to get the movie and get ready to relive the book with your closest friends to watch The Hunger Games. And may the odds be ever in your favor.

Moving Farewell Party

Are you sending off a dear friend on bigger and better adventures? Well, say farewell in style. Hosting a farewell party is a must. You want to show that they will definitely be missed, plus it's a good excuse for a party. Are you unsure of what type of party decorations, food or theme to go with? Wedding and Party Network has a few tips and ideas to say bon voyage.

Party Theme – Of course, your party theme should be along the lines of traveling. You can go with the bon voyage theme or use vintage luggage for your party decor. Just pick the theme that best suits the guest of honor.

Bon Voyage Decor – Since this is a going away party, think of the elements of travel. Luggage, postcards, globes, airplanes, maps and even ships are all part of traveling and go with the party theme. Find vintage maps and create wall decor with that. Once you decide what type of party decor you want your party to feature, settle on the colors. Normally, you do this first. However, if you go with vintage luggage as part of your decor, you may want to go with browns and creams for your party colors.

You can even create a gift for the guest of honor that is moving out of your party decor. For example, frame a map, pin point the places they have lived and where he/she is moving and create art by using twine to connect the places together. Hang this piece over the food table for a focal point of the party. Also, hang fun airplanes that say ready for take off or taking off or even create paper airplanes with well wishes inside or have guests write well wishes on post cards and definitely place vintage luggage out as part of the decor.

You can incorporate these items into unique centerpieces too. However, there is a cute centerpiece idea that features a floral arrangement, balloon and some net that are made to look like a hot air balloon. This would definitely be such a cute accent to add to your party.

What To Serve – Does the guest of honor enjoy a certain type of food or do they have a variety of favorite foods? Serve what they like. This party is all about them, so definitely show that. If they enjoy macaroni and cheese, chicken fingers, cheesecake, french fries, fruit or vegetables, serve it. It's all about them. It can be the most random menu ever, but if the guest of honor loves everything on it, it's fine! Of course you want everyone to enjoy the food, so it's always fine if you prepare too much party food. It can easily be sent home or you will have plenty of left overs!

You definitely want the food to be tasteful, yet you can add fun accents to it by featuring fun little cards with cute sayings by the food. Just create food cards in your party colors. Also, set up a bar and have let guests create their own farewell-tini. It's all in the details with this party.

It's a Superhero Party

Find a cute party theme for a little boy can be a difficult feat. You have to balance that line of making it cute and making it cute for a boy. This starts with finding the right party theme for your little one. You must take into consideration what they enjoy when choosing a party theme. So, if your little one is into comics and superheros, Wedding and Party Network has an adorable superhero party theme that all little boys will enjoy.

Superhero Decor – No party is complete without some mass destruction. There are some super cute ideas for party decorations. Just take inspiration from your little one's favorite superhero and their story lines. Think about creating a cityscape for one of the tables, like the birthday cake table. When you think of comic books, they normally are fighting in a city or flying through the buildings. Also, don't forget to create capes, banners, masks and a cut out of a superhero with your little ones initial.

  • Creating the cityscape – It's super simple to create this. Just take a few boxes that you have around the house and wrap them with red, blue or yellow wrapping paper. From there, just draw windows and doors with a black marker. Set them up on the table and don't forget to feature varying heights.
  • Centerpieces that go BOOM – For this project, all you need are kleenex boxes, construction paper or wrapping paper in red, blue or yellow, floral foam, construction paper, markers, craft stick or even a popsicle stick and some tape. Wrap the tissue box in whatever paper you like and leave the hole open, place the styrofoam in the opening. Next, take your construction paper and cut out fun shapes and write pow and boom on them. Glue it to the stick and place it down in the styrofoam. Don't forget to use some fun tissue paper to fill the hole. There you have a fun centerpiece.
  • Superhero banner – Just take matching construction paper, cut out letters, string and scissors to create a happy birthday banner.

Superhero Fuel – Serve the birthday boy's favorite foods. You can go with the normal sandwiches, dips, chips, fruit and vegetables. Just add unique touches like the signs you mad for the centerpieces like boom or pow except a bit smaller.

  • Fuel with candy – It's their birthday, let them eat junk food! You can create a candy bar, popcorn bar, s'mores bar or a chocolate bar.
  • Superhero desserts – Of course, you need a birthday cake, cupcakes or cookies for this party. Let the birthday cake be themed with a superhero on top, create cookies with the Batman symbol, Superman logo or Spiderman web and you can even create fun cake pops! Superhero capes & masks – Just visit your local fabric store, you can easily cut the fabric to resemble a cape and purchase stick on felt letters or even get creative and create unique designs with a vinyl machine and stick that on their capes. Also, you can find masks at your craft store, party store or make them yourself.

It's Shark Week!

Everybody's favorite week is approaching fast. What is that? Of course, it's shark week! It starts on August 12th on The Discovery Channel and is exactly what it sounds like, it's all about sharks. So, to celebrate, why not host a shark themed party? There are super fun party decorations and food that you can enjoy while sitting around the television watching Shark Week. And Wedding and Party Network has a few ideas to help you along the way.

Watermelon Shark
Fun Party Invitations – If you want a super simple, yet fun party invitation; first cut out shark fins. Next, write Caution: Shark Week, and give your guests the details of your party. You could also come up with a fun saying related to Jaws, however, it's completely up to you. Just let guests know what your party is all about.

Shark Themed Party Decor – Create an ocean setting in your home. Think all things you would find at a beach. Make your party colors blue, bring in some blow up palm trees, coconuts, bring in the kiddie pools and feel them with sand and water, hang beach balls, paper umbrellas, fishing nets, shark sighting signs, shark fin centerpiece and don't forget about the shark fins. A fun idea is to take blue paper and hang it up behind the food table. Next, cut out shark fins and glue them on there to create an ocean setting with shark fins coming up from the water. Just bring the elements of the beach into your party and you're set.

Shark Inspired Party Food – There are so many fun idea for your food, you will definitely have to pick your favorites. You can easily serve up your favorite appetizers and snacks. If you're serving sandwiches, find a shark cookie cutter and make them into shark sandwiches. Also, don't forget to add some Goldfish to your snack mix. For your fruit platter, it's always fun to take a watermelon and carve it into a shark. Take a watermelon, cut it in half with a slight angle, cut out a shark mouth wedge, hollow out the watermelon, cut shark teeth, use a blueberry for an eye and fill it with fruit. Here is a fun tutorial.

Next up for the dessert, there are fun ideas. Create delicious cupcakes, use blue icing and create waves and place a fin on top. To pair with these cupcakes, create another one that features fine ground up Graham crackers to create sand. Also, create jello with gummy fish in it, except feature it in an actual fish bowl. Blue colored candy, salt water taffy and you can even feature pudding cups that are colored blue and have a shark floating around in it. Don't forget to visit with your local caterer and even your bakery and they will for sure come up with some unique food and desserts.

Next up, just sit around and watch the exciting shows of Shark Week. If you have some kiddos attending, you can even create a shark fin of their own and have a few games set up outside. However, it may be just as fun watching and learning from The Discovery Channel.

There are many exciting things happening in August. It's that time of year when school starts back and we're getting closer and closer to fall. However, one thing that comes to mind during august is that it is National Peach Month. How can you celebrate this? Holiday history – First off, what is this holiday and what is it all about? This holiday is just how it sounds, it's all about celebrating peaches. August is definitely the prim season for peaches, so it's all about celebrating their flavor and just the fruit in general. So, how do this celebratory month get started? Actually President Ronald Reagan started this holiday since peaches helped out with the economy and food supply. Why not celebrate peaches?

Party decorations – If you're thinking you have to take peaches and make those part of your party decor, you definitely don't have to do this. Think about incorporating the colors of peaches into your party or peaches are normally associated with summer or that type of vintage feel so you can host a party that features those type of themes. Pick a theme, color or even create peach decor and just run with it for your party.

Peach infused food – This is where you can really get creative. There are actually so many recipes that feature peaches, especially desserts. Create a peach, prosciutto and ricotta crostini, peach and tomato gazpacho, grilled peaches or even a peach and arugula salad.  For the main dish, a pork tenderloin with grilled peach-ginger chutney or halibut with peach salsa. There are so many ideas, it will be hard to narrow down what to serve for dinner. However, your main focus should definitely be on the desserts. Come up with fun ideas like create their own cupcake or create their own s'mores. This is a great way for everyone to get to know each other a bit better.

After School Snacks – When the children get done with school, they are ready for their afternoon snack. So, why not host a party at your house that is full with after school snacks? This gives the children and even the parents time to ask what happened during the day and ask how their first day of school went. Load up on pretzels, vegetables, fruits and even a few sweets that will hold them over until dinnertime. Don't forget to get creative with the snacks.

Mad Men Inspired Party

The ever popular Mad Men television show is set in the 1960's and is based around several characters that work in an advertising agency in New York City. Not only is this television show one to watch, it has also sparked some interest in the 1960's era. Interest in fashion and the lifestyle during this era has definitely been peaked. So, Wedding and Party Network has a few party tips and ideas to host a Mad Men inspired party.

Appetizers
Start early – We all know the term, fashionably late. However, this term wasn't adapted until after the 60's. So, start your party around 6 or 6:30 p.m. to keep in the realm of the 60's.

Clear everything out – Seen in cookbooks and magazines, this time that the best way to host a cocktail party was to clear everything out. This idea was conceptualised to keep guests on their feet for a shorter party so they can mingle the entire time. This will also give you more room to lay out 60 inspired appetizers. Also, don't forget about the music!

For the decor – The best thing to do is research what was popular during this time. It was all about being retro and mod. Visit your local thrift store or find prints online and incorporate that into your decor.

What to serve – Think meatballs, deviled eggs, pigs in a blanket and cheeseballs. Research the type of food and appetizers they served at their cocktail parties. Get creative and even read up on the history of why they served these items or cooked food like that. Also, don't forget to find your jello mold to create a jello concoction, which was a popular dessert during these times. Another thing to remember is to place candy cigarettes around the party. This era is all about smoking, however, to avoid that in your house, feature the candy cigarettes. That will definitely take some of your guests back to their childhood.

Focus on the drinks – During this era, they definitely focused on the drinking. Don Draper's choice of drink on the show is a rye. However, you can also serve up dry martinis, Bloody Mary, Manhattan, Tom Collins or Whiskey Sour are all popular drinks that you can serve. It was definitely all about the drinks, so back sure you have a stocked bar.

It's that time of year again. Yes, school is starting back up. However, children may not be looking forward to this time of year at all. How do you get children in the mood for going back to school? Of course, host a a back to school party for the children! This is a great time for everyone to get together and get excited about spending time together during the school year. So, Wedding and Party Network has a few party ideas and tips to host a back to school party.

Colorful Back to School Party
Supply Your Party – When decorating for this party, use school supplies for your party decorations. Think about apples, pencils, markers, books, notebooks, planners, chalk and all the essentials you need to start school. Get a chalkboard and hang it above the food table and have some fun doodles on it. Also, fill vases with pencils, rulers, apples, chalk, scissors and markers to create fun party centerpieces. Even add some event flowers to add a bit of pizzazz. Also, create fun little placemats for the table to replicate their school desks that includes their name and a fun notebook paper napkin fold.

You can also use banners with fun school prints to hang around the party or even hang maps around the party. This will get the children in the mood for school, especially if you put a fun twist on the supplies they find in school.

After School Snacks – To get in the theme of things, serve food that replicates what you normally serve for after school snacks. Think about fun appetizers that the children will enjoy. Go with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but let them create their own and feature various types of jelly. Also, feature grilled cheese sandwiches, yet switch up the cheeses and go with something a bit more gourmet.
