#FromTheGroom – How to Survive Engagement Season Questioning
There are about two weeks till Halloween which means engagement season is just around the corner. If you don't know what engagement season is, it is the time between November and February when most couples get engaged. Many think that engagement season is big partly due to social media and partly due to the fact that you will soon be around the majority of your family. Plus, Thanksgiving through Valentine's Day is typically a time of warm and happy occasions and it seems less likely that someone would say no. But, let's say you're not ready to pop the question. You've been dating your significant other for a while and you know many family and friends will be asking those annoying questions, "So when are you popping the question?" or "When do you plan on getting married?" Well, I've got some great answers for you to give. And, if you are ready to pop the question, just check out some of our older blogs for inspiration!

Celebrating New Year's Eve with Your Kids
Once your kids wave goodbye to Christmas it can leave them (and you!) in a little bit of funk. It's always sad to see Christmas go, but there is always New Year's Eve! The midnight hour may not be very kid-friendly, but you can still give them a reason to look forward to the holiday. Prepare the hot chocolate, crank up the holiday tunes, and give these ideas a try.
Make a Time Capsule – This is a really neat idea if you are even the slightest bit sentimental. You can sit down with your kids and fill out a fun survey with questions such as: What is your favorite food right now? Who is your best friend? What is your favorite thing you did this year? Put a current picture of your children along with their surveys in a box and pull it out every year. Answer the same questions each year. Years down the road it will be fun to see how much has changed, and to reflect on various stages of your kids' lives.
Brainstorm – Going along with getting together as a family, the simplest thing you can do is talk about the year that is fast approaching. Make some of your kids' favorite snacks and hang out together with a big poster board to write any and every thing you want to do in the next year. This can range from small things like seeing a certain movie, to bigger dreams like a hopeful vacation. Since you are all having to leave Christmas behind, this can give you some much-needed targets to look forward to.
Join with Friends – Remember all those friends that you used to spend New Year's Eve with before you had kids? If you are all in the same parenting boat there's no reason why you still can't get together to celebrate the new year! If you're up for company (and a little chaos!), invite them all over with their kids and have a spontaneous New Year's Eve celebration. Tell your friends to bring pajamas for the kids and set up movies, popcorn, and sleeping bags for the little ones so that everyone can stay as late as possible.
If your kids are young and you aren't really sure how to involve them in the thrill of New Year's, it doesn't have to be complicated. Mark the holiday by spending time together, and you'll hopefully make it a little bit easier for them to move on from Christmas.
Get Cozy for New Year's Eve
Do you ever just want to skip out on the night out on the town for New Year's Eve? Sure, it's fun but spending it at home with family makes it truly special. Consider throwing your own New Year's eve party at your own home for a cozy environment. Wedding and Party Network has a few party themes that will achieve just that.
For the book nerd – If you love books, consider hosting a book exchange at your house for the upcoming year. Go with a book theme for your party as well. Consider counting down the night with your top 10 favorite books and use books as you decor. You can incorporate them into your party centerpieces and set them up around the home.
Ski lodge – Spending New Year's Eve at a skid lodge in the snowy mountains sounds amazingly cozy. Snuggle up to a fireplace, sip on some hot chocolate, and wrap up in a blanket. Tell highlights from the past year. What did you enjoy and what were some of your most memorable moments?
Regifting party – Stuck with any gifts from the holidays that you already had or just not a fan of? Consider hosting a regifting party. You can also clean out your closet and have a swap party. Counting down the new year together and exchanging clothes are always fun.
Host a craft night – Get crafty on NYE. Get your home ready for the new year by creating crafts that will stand out. Invite your closest friends over who are up for a cozy night in and craft together. Find some great craft ideas on Pinterest, create food from Pinterest, and celebrate.
Movie night – Relive the best movies of 2012 on NYE. You can also pick your favorite movies and stay in cuddled up with a blanket. Don't forget to pop the popcorn, have your favorite theatre candy, and your ideal movie drink! This is such a fun and cozy night in.
There are many ways to spend New Year's Eve. An evening out on the town, watching the ball drop in Time's Square, or just spending a cozy night in celebrating a brand new year.

7 NYE Tips for a Sparkling Midnight Party
How will you ever be able to plan a New Year's Eve party right after the holidays? The madness of the holidays just seems to have died down and now it's time to plan an unforgettable New Year's Eve party. Well, Wedding and Party Network has a few tips to make your New Year's the best ever, while not working too hard.
- Save the Dates – Send out your party invitations NOW. That way, you can make sure your guests know you are planning a party and they can make plans to attend. Don't forget to tie your invitations into the theme of your party.
- New Year's Eve Theme – Having the right theme for your party is definitely the key element. Work your decor into your home, instead of making it one giant focal point. Also, try to use your holiday decor that you already have out. Candles, ornaments with glitter, and lights all can serve as decor for your party.
- Set the Mood – Set the mood for New Year's with twinkling lights, candles, and dim the overhead lights. It creates the perfect party mood and your guests will instantly recognize it when stepping through the door.
- Enough Room to Mingle – If you're having a large crowd over, make sure there is enough room for your guests. Move furniture around to give more room to mix and mingle.
- The Little Things – Don't forget to stock the bar or have your guests bring their own drinks with them. Buying can get expensive so it may be best if you have everyone bring their own. Plus, not everyone enjoys the same drinks. You could also go with a signature drink that fits the theme of your party as well. Also, please have several cab company phone numbers on hand, just in case.
- Count Down – Make sure everyone counts down together, it's more fun that way. Everyone feels that sense of bond and togetherness when they ring in the new year together.
- Say Thanks with Party Favors – Don't forget to come up with cute party favors to send your guests home with. One idea maybe a recovery kit that is filled with aspirin, coffee, chocolates, and a thank you note.
Don't be stressed when planning your New Year's Eve party. Follow these simple tips and your party will be sparkling at midnight.

New Year's Eve Activities
Are you planning a quiet evening in with the family for New Years? When you think of a quiet evening in, don't think about being stuck in front of the television all night waiting for the New Year's ball to drop. It doesn't even have to be like that. Yes, you want to not fight the crowds out on a night like this, yet you don't want to be stuck inside doing nothing. Don't make your night be boring in with these exciting activities from Wedding and Party Network.
Time Charades – Since New Year's Eve is all about counting down the time, why not make a game out of it. In fact, if you have games you enjoy, base those on time as well. Play games that are timed, like Boggle, Cranium or Speed. Also, make that the theme of your game like time inspired charades. Act out the television show Lost or Time is on My Side. These great games will have everyone enjoying their time in.
Resolution – Another great game is to guess everyone's New Year's resolution. This night will include close friends and family, so it's fun to see what they have planned for the new year. Plus, it may even help them stay on track to keep it. Have everyone fill out a piece of paper with their resolutions and then later in the evening have everyone pick which resolution belongs to the guests.
Kid's New Year's Resolutions – If you're in with the children, help them create their own. Sit down with them and explain exactly what a resolution means. Once they understand, ask them what they would like to achieve in the new year. Starting out young may help them keep their resolutions once they are older.
Time Capsule –This is great for friends, family or children to share in. Place items from the past year into a time capsule. On the following New Year's Eve, invite over the same people and take out the time capsule. How much fun will it be to reminisce on the previous year and share great memories with some good laughs.
Year In Review – Before the party, plan out a game that covers major events that happened. Quiz your guests on the past events, even split up into teams and make a friendly competition out of it.
There are many activities out there that make your New Year's Eve in absolutely fun! Being indoors doesn't have to be about sitting in front of the television waiting for midnight. Enjoy these activities and your night will be truly memorable.

A Fabulous New Year's Eve Party On A Budget
When we think of New Years, we think of lavish parties all decked out in our most fabulous dresses. Then the price comes to mind. However, it doesn't have to be that way! Don't let your mind trick you into thinking that the word budget means a cozy night in on the couch watching the ball drop. That sounds so cozy, but if you're looking for a lavish New Year's Eve party on a budget; it can be done. With these helpful party tips, you and your guests will have an absolute fabulous time on New Years.
An Amazing Budget Setting
First, pick your theme color. Then go from there. It'll help you be organized in the search for other great party decorations. Another tip you might find useful, pick a flower that's in season. Buy stems from your local florist and use those as decorations. Nothing extravagant, the bud of the flower in a small vase. So simple, yet extremely elegant. Plus, doing something simple cuts down on the cost of having an extravagant centerpiece.
Are you in need of plates, tables and linens? Important phrase to remember, use what you have! You have tables or even those fold out tables will work to set your appetizers and drinks on. Just cover it with an elegant table linen accompanied with beautiful table accents. You probably have serving pieces or you could borrow some, so use those. Just make sure it's within your color scheme. What about plates and drinkware? You could always go the disposable route, however, why not rent from your local party rental store. This just makes it easier and will save you many trips. However, you may want to divide your budget accordingly if you decide to rent.
Now you need party decorations. Again, use what you have. Candle holders, candelabras, baskets, vases, Christmas ornaments, candles and plants will offer wonderful party accents. Candles always make for an elegant setting so use lots of those. Fill vases with beautiful Christmas ornaments, which serves as a great table centerpiece. The main key for your party decorations is to use what you have around the house. Re-purpose items or get crafty. Use glitter to accent your party or feathers.
Don't forget about the music and lighting. Just by dimming the lights you'll be able to create an elegant setting. Plus, burn a cd of today's hottest hits and oldies. Something that everyone will enjoy dancing the night away to.
Melt In Your Mouth Delicious Party Food
Since you've saved on your party decorations, you can divide more of your budget to the food. However, you may not have to if you've mastered the art of appetizers. Bruschetta, vegetable crudites, cheese and crackers and meatballs are extremely easy, yet elegant. Plus, even though these are basic foods, you can always dress them up in unique ways.
Use unique cheeses or different sauces that no one has ever tried before. You could always ask your close friends to bring something over too. If you're providing the site and all the decorations, they'd surely be glad to help out with the food. This gives everyone the chance to try something different and add to their recipe books.
Skip out on serving a variety of desserts. At midnight serve a cute little doughnut or chocolate truffle to satisfy their sweet tooth. Therefore, you aren't buying a tone of items at the store and you will have more time to mingle at your party. Just a simple and unique idea on serving desserts.
Another option? Have it catered! Find a local party caterer that can give you tips on what appetizers to serve. They'll have lots of ideas that you've never tried before. This doesn't always have to be expensive, just get a few appetizers. Your guests will be plenty satisfied with the delicious food they are offered.
One of the most important things on this night has to be the drinks. Again, stay within your budget my having a byob (bring your own beer/alcohol) or create a signature drink for the night. Just buy in bulk, saves you from having to run around and buy a variety of items and making sure you have enough of each thing. Give your signature drink a unique name. A unique touch to your party.
Another tip, buy in advance. If you know you're planning on throwing a party in advance, go ahead and stock up. Buying a little at a time is easier than buying all your needs in one trip. However, if you really want to stay easy, stick to wine or just beer. However, the signature drink idea sounds so cute!
These party tips will help you stay within your budget. Ignore the meaning of that word when it comes to mind, which might be a boring party. You know what? You can throw an absolute fabulous New Year's Eve party on a budget. You and your guests will have an amazing time and create a memory that will last a lifetime.
