When it comes to hosting a party, do you get tired of throwing the same old dinner parties? Are you running out of party themes and tired of doing the same things over and over? Well, Wedding and Party Network has a great party theme that your guests will absolutely love! Everyone has a great time and it's something that can be enjoyed each year. So, what type of part is this? Well, it's a murder mystery dinner party!
Party Theme – First off, pick a theme of your murder mystery party. This is for your party decorations and defines how everyone will dress up for your party. You can go with a 40's theme, 50's theme or some off the wall theme. Whatever party theme, you choose it will define how everyone dresses and the party decorations. Once you have the theme, you can start buying party decorations based on it. Remember, you may want to find a space big enough to host this party and decorate each room according to the theme. Also, pass out the party invitations at least 6 weeks in advance so your guests have time to prepare their costumes.
Party Supplies – With this party, you will need to make out character cards. It's definitely like the game Clue. Write out character descriptions for your guests, so they know how to get into character. You can get ideas from movie characters or people from history when filling out these character cards. Give a true description of their personality, hobbies, likes, dislikes, what they look like and their past. This helps your guests get completely into character.
Also, don't forget to set up different rooms in your house or party venue that will serve as the library, kitchen, living room and so on. Don't forget the candlestick, revolver and rope too for the weapons.
The Guest List – This can be as big or small of a party as you would like. However, invite people who will actually participate in this party. Everyone should play their parts pretty enthusiastically. Of course, this doesn't mean that they have to be award-winning actors, just be someone else for a few hours.
Authoritative Figure – Don't forget, that as a host, you are the authoritative figure in this game and you help it keep on track. People may get sidetracked and forget about the game for a moment. Therefore, keep the game going and moving in the right direction.
Dinner Party Script – Don't forget, this party needs a script for your guests to go by. You can either write your own or they do have those murder mystery kits. Make sure you read over it a few times that way, you can make sure everyone is going with the flow of the game.
Not Too Hard, Not Too Easy –You don't want your guests to immediately figure out who the killer is or make it so hard that they never figure it out. Make it somewhat hard. You may want to ask for an outside opinion too. Don't forget that there are always several suspects, however, there can only be one villain.
Secrets – Tell your guests to keep their characters a secret. It's fun for everyone and a great start to the party if no one knows who everyone is and they're being introduced to their characters at the beginning.
Catering – Since you will be busy setting up the party, getting all the party supplies together and getting into costume, you don't won't to worry about the food. Therefore, a great option is to have your meal catered. Also, a buffet style dinner is ideal so you can get the game started sooner. Plus, if you're sitting around the table, most of your guests will focus on the food and visiting with each other and not focusing on the game.
This game is such a great time for everyone. You still pick a great party theme, except you add a fun twist to the party. This will definitely become a yearly event that you and your guests will look forward to each year.
