When did it become okay for us to stop celebrating birthdays? Some of my favorite memories are of my summer birthday parties at the swimming pool. At Wedding and Party Network, we believe in celebrating everything, especially adult's birthdays! Here are a few ideas to celebrate those special grown-ups in your life.
For Men…
Adults definitely don’t get celebrated as much, but guys really get the short end of the birthday party stick. The dads and husbands in our lives really deserve so much celebration! So this year, why don’t you take a whole Saturday to celebrate your man? What are the things he loves? Organize something big, with all of his friends. My favorite idea for a manly grown up birthday party is a whiffle ball tournament. First invite all of his best friends, then you gather the supplies (whiffle balls, bats) and create a bracket for the day! Men love a good competition. Afterwards, grill burgers and hot dogs and celebrate the victory with his favorite sweets!
For Women…
I have a friend who absolutely loves karaoke. If you’re like most of my friends, singing is not our forte’ so to speak, but we have so much fun singing along to songs, especially from our high school years. One year, we planned a karaoke party and celebrated her birthday with songs from our past. We had the party at a friend’s home (so no one else could hear us,) made a signature drink she loved, and stayed up late eating snacks and enjoying each other’s company.
For Both…
My favorite birthday party as an adult was last year. My husband and I love to watch the TV Show Chopped on the Food Network. So we decided for my birthday, we would have our own version of the show right at home. We invited my best friends and their significant others, and paired everyone up into teams. There were three rounds: appetizer, main dish, dessert. We all cooked in my medium-sized kitchen and ate around the dinner table. We judged each round and had an ultimate winner. It was so much fun!
Remember, a little thought and planning go a long way. Make that someone special in your life feel extra loved by celebrating them in ways that are meaningful and outside of the box!
