Minecraft is like the Lego of the video game world. Players can play in several different modes, including creative, where you have unlimited resources and can build whatever you like, or survival where you must find all the materials needed to survive, as well as fight off enemies. Kids and adults alike flock to this video game, and it is my daughter's love of the game that led to her wanting a Minecraft-themed birthday party.
Invitations
For the invitations, I decided to make my own online using Canva. These can easily be printed or shared online. You could also have fun, custom invitations printed.
Decorations
Creativity is the basis of the game, and your decorations hould be no different! Use purple streamers to create a Nether Portal, build a T-N-T block pinata, and make sure to throw around some diamonds and gold! Use green cups and silverware and easily draw Creeper faces on them. We also did this with green ballons. You can also make giant spiders out of black balloons and streamers.
Games
Creeper Toss– A version of a bean bag toss. Use a large cardboard box, and paint it to look like a Creeper (or Enderman which is solid black), and cut out eyes and a mouth. Kids take turns throwing bean bags, or small balls. Give each hole a point value, if they make it through that hole, that's how many points they receive. Who ever gets the most points wins!
Pin the Tail on the Pig– This fun version of Pin the Tail on the Donkey is very easy to create. All you really need is pink construction paper to make your pig and pig tails. You can use a bigger piece of poster board to attach the pig to, or use light blue and green construction paper taped to the wall to make a sky and grass to put your pig on.
Food
We went really simple for this party and just had light snacks with her cake. Some cool food ideas are cheese puffs for carrots (or real carrots), gummy "fish," blue jello
"water," pretzel "sticks," red Twizler "T-N-T," and rice crispy treats as different "blocks." An awesome cake also helps tie everything together! For drinks, we decided to make "lava" punch using fruit punch, lemon lime soda, and orange sherbert. You could also do bottled water and different flavor drink mixes to let the kids create their own "potions."
Just like any birthday party, this can easily be changed to fit what your child wants. If you're not up to a lot of DIY work, look on Wedding and Party Network to find party supplies to help you with the details!
