Can you feel it? That tremble of electricity in the air? No, not lightning! This is so much bigger than any isolated weather event could ever be. I'm talking about football season!
It's almost overwhelming isn't it? The sights, sounds and smells that accompany this time of year, the aroma of roasting meat, the pssshh you hear while twisting the cap off your favorite beverage and all your friends wearing uniform colors while displaying their own unique and eclectic styles all make for enduring memories that will stay with you for a lifetime, and each of them relates back to the game we all love.
Tailgating
Football, be it pro, college, high school or even pee wee, has become an integral part of American life, and likewise, tailgating has become an integral part of football. There was a time when tailgating was a sub-culture, an activity engaged by a pioneering few, but that time is long past. Tailgating is now as prevalent at football stadiums as hot dogs and popcorn.
Joe Cahn, the self proclaimed "Commissioner of Tailgating," described the stadium parking lot as, "the last American neighborhood" and tailgating itself as "the new American community," and it is these two concepts that have made tailgating such a popular activity across the nation. It's refreshing to find a community that welcomes all comers. Well, as long as your jersey is the right color! So why aren't you participating?

Tailgating doesn't require a how-to guide, because there's no way to do it wrong. The only wrong way to tailgate is not to tailgate at all! If you want to grill some food, have at it! If you prefer to sit in a lawn chair and sip on your favorite beverage, fantastic! Even if you just want to wander through the area performing a little meet and greet, you will be accepted with open arms. The idea is to enjoy spending time in the company of people with whom you already have something in common, your love of football.
Don't spend this season sitting on the sidelines, get into the parking lot! There's food to be eaten, drinks to be consumed and fun to be had, you just have to show up. So slip on your jersey, secure your cap and get ready to have a great time!
