Sweetest Day takes place on the third Saturday in October. It was started by a candy maker in the 1920's as a day to remember the forgotten. Traditionally, people would deliver candy and small gifts to the underprivileged, sick, old, and orphaned. Today, it is celebrated in a similar manner as Valentine's Day, only in the fall. Here are some fun ways you and your sweetie can celebrate Sweetest Day (October 15).
Candy and Flowers
Surprise them with a tradtional delivery of candy and flowers! Not sure where to find your local florist? Check out our directory of florists! Many of our florists also have online ordering to make things a little easier!
Take a Mini Vacation
Sometimes the best vacations are unplanned and spur of the moment. Pick a location that is close enough that you can drive there in just a few hours, book a hotel room in the area, and then spend time relaxing or exploring the area.
Cook a Romantic Dinner
A quiet night at home might be just what you need. Prepare your favorite meal, rent a good movie, and relax the night away.
Take a Wine and Painting Class
What's better than painting a beautiful picture for your wall? Drinking a great glass of wine and having fun while doing it!
Volunteer
Since Sweetest Day has its origins in helping others, why not volunteer at a local shelter or deliver some treats to a local residential care facility? Taking the time out of your day to do someting for others will not only make you feel amazing, but will also make someone else extremely happy.
