With back to school just around the corner, you need to start planning out your weekly after school snacks and treats. This is a tradition and kids look forward to their special snack after school. Plus, it gives you time to bond and find out what happened with their day. It gives parents a great time to look back on and enjoy the times they spent together finding out about their child's day. However, are you running out of ideas for back to school treats? Wedding and Party Network has a few ideas that children will love!
Create a butterfly – This snack is super simple. All you need are grapes, bite sized crackers, snack sized ziplock bag, clothes pin, pipe cleaners and a pair of eyes. Place the clothes pin in the middle of the bag. You can paint it or decorate it however you want. Once you do that, fill your bag with your snacks. The clothes pin makes a divide so you can keep the snacks separated. To add the finishing touches, just glue on the pipe cleaners for antennas and eyes. There you have it, a fun butterfly for an after school snack.
Monster snacks – Take a paper cone and decorate it with eyes and unique shapes to create a one-eyed monster. This is great for little boys, Just mix popcorn, pretzel sticks and some chocolate and you have a treat that fits perfectly in the cone.
Rainbow snack – This is super simple and it's a great way to get kids to eat their fruits. Go with blueberries, green grapes, pineapple, oranges and strawberries to create a rainbow out of fruit. You can never go wrong with a visually appealing snack.
Scooter snack – Yes, you can take a few items and create a little scooter out of food. All you need are string cheese for the base, cucumbers for the wheels, cherry tomatoes sliced in half for the hubcaps and pretzels for the handlebars and a little cream cheese to use to hold everything together.
Healthy house – This is a super cute idea for an after school snack. Take one slice of whole wheat bread, peanut butter, turkey, raisin, chex, cheese and a celery stick. Lather the peanut butter on the wheat bread and that will be the base of the house. Next, cut out a door from the turkey and add a raisin for the door knob. The rice chex will make for the windows, cut the cheese in a triangle for the roof and the celery stick will become the chimney.
Fish sandwich – Not really a fish sandwich. However, you can make it look like a fish. Take your child's favorite type of sandwich and take a cookie cutter to make shapes.
All these snacks are so fun and can definitely be made into some healthy treats. Just get creative and your children will enjoy!
