The theme of this party is to keep it simple, yet fun. Which, most of your guests will have their eye on that television, so you won't need too many decorations. So, play up the food and games during halftime to make your party truly unique.
Party Invitations: Keep it with the theme and have your party invitations replicate basketballs. Your guests will get the theme immediately after they open the envelopes. You'll also be able to find these at any party store or get crafty and create them yourself! All you need are orange paper and a black marker to make them look like basketballs.Team Spirit: Do you have a favorite team? How about rivalry college teams among your friends? Or, you could care less about basketball and it's a good excuse to host a party? Whatever you answered towards those questions, you can decorate for all 3 of them.
If you have a favorite team or share rivalry teams with your friends, choose the team's colors. Streamers or party balloons will work, however, if you're wanting a more elegant feel, choose flower arrangements in the colors. Not a big basketball fan? Decorate with orange and black party decorations.
Winning Party Food: What do you serve for a basketball themed party? You have several options to choose from. When you think of sports, you think of guy food. Therefore, serve hot wings, cheese dip, chili and burgers. Yes, it's tradition, but everyone enjoys this food. Mix it up and try out a burger bar, where guests can create their own burger with all their favorite toppings. Create a hot wing bar, where people can choose the different sauces. You can always take traditional food and put a unique twist on them that makes them non-traditional.
However, if you want something different. Go with food that you would find at the actual game. Popcorn, hot dogs, pickles, nachos and candy are all the "healthy" food groups at the stadium. Place these food items in what you would find at the actual game to make your guests feel like they are really there.
For desserts, create delicious cupcakes or a cake. Put your team's color on them or just go with a traditional basketball. If you're really creative or know a great cake baker, create a cake that is shaped into a basketball court! How fun would that be for your March Madness party?! All of this delicious party food will have your guests enjoying the game even more.
The Main Attraction: We all know basketball is an intense game to watch, maybe. However, bring a little more fun to the game with trivia. If there are die hard basketball fans out there, they'll really get into it and the people who aren't will enjoy watching them. Play this during half time or on commercial breaks, it will be a fun game that everyone can enjoy.
