On A Budget? Check Out These Cost Saving Party Tips
Not everyone has an expendable budget for elaborate party décor and fancy party favors, I included. So, the social butterfly and single college student that I am, I must make my dollar go a long way when it comes to party supplies. Through the years I have come up with some money saving tips that will surely help you stay on budget when preparing for your next event.
- If you’re able … make it yourself. Do it yourself projects may take time, but to some, that is better than money. You can cut down on the budget significantly by making banners, signs, and flyers yourself. You can create these on your home computer, print them off either at home or a print shop such as Kinko’s for a small fee. Banners and signs give the party a sense of purpose. Another easy DIY are party favors. No matter what the party or theme, edible treats are always a good choice as a party favor. Candies, cookies, and other treats can be put in small cellophane bags, tied with a colorful ribbon, and Voila!… you have a festive, yummy, and most importantly an inexpensive unique party favor.
- Use balloons…everywhere. Why balloons you ask? Well, I’ll tell you. Balloons are extremely inexpensive, can be used in several different ways and come in an array of colors. Balloons can be blown up by mouth and scattered across the floor, filled with helium so they rise to cover the ceiling, or you can make balloon bouquets. It doesn’t matter how you incorporate balloons into your party décor, they will be festive and keep you from spending a fortune.
- Don’t use disposable. Buying plates just to throw away seems pointless anyway right? Use your own dishes and flatware next time and not only save some money, but do your part to save the planet as well. If you throw several parties you might also want to invest in a punch fountain or some serving trays. It might be worth it in the end instead of renting supplies every time you host an event.
It’s not rocket science, but maybe these party tips will help you stay on budget for your next party!
