Thanksgiving is right around the corner so it's time to give thanks. Many people just think of hosting Thanksgiving dinner. However, come up with more ways to celebrate this holiday with your friends and family. One party idea that will definitely be a huge hit is a Thanksgiving pie exchange. Wedding and Party Network has a few tips on hosting a pie exchange party.
- A pie exchange party is fun to spend time with your closest girlfriends. However, instead of making it a great sampling party, also do a play off the White Elephant game that is normally played around Christmas. Everyone draws numbers and can take home a pie for their Thanksgiving dinner. You can also have guests vote on the most creative pie, tasty pie or most creative presentation
- Once you have your party theme in place and what fun events everyone will participate in, send out the party invitations. Include the details of party, state that no store-bought pies are allowed and recommend them baking their pie 2-3 days in advance. The biggest reasons for no shows is some people wait till the last-minute and have no time to bake their pies. Also, tell them to bake their pie in a disposable container, email you their pie recipe so you can print it off for everyone and tell them to RSVP as soon as they can so no one bakes duplicate pies.
- This party is all about pie. Make sure that is your focal point. Set up a place where you can group all the pies together so that will be your guest's main focus. Maybe create a table centerpiece for the table and a fall themed table runner. Just make sure nothing distracts from the pies.
- Make sure there are no duplicates. Since you are hoping no one makes the same pie, people are absolutely going to have to get creative. Don't forget the name tags to put with each pie. It may look like a normal pie, but your guests may have gotten really creative with their recipe and it could be an unexpected treat. Think about creating chalkboard name tags for the pies. They are reusable for other great parties as well.
Hosting a Thanksgiving pie exchange party lets you and your guests try different pies, learn new recipes and most importantly spend time with each other.
