Grandparents Day is coming up on September 11th. So, have you gotten your gift ready to show how much you appreciate your grandparents? Do you come across the problem, "what do they need" or "they have everything they want". That is a problem when buying most gifts. However, there are gift ideas out there for everyone that they all will enjoy. Wedding and Party Network is here to give you a few gift ideas and even a few party tips to help show how much you appreciate your grandparents.
Facts & Tidbit
Grandparents Day was founded by Marian McQuade. Her goal was to educate the youth about the important contributions that seniors have made throughout the years. It's only fitting for a day to be set aside during the year to celebrate your grandparents. There are even songs and poems to celebrate this special holiday.Gift Ideas & Activities
There are lots of unique gifts for this holiday and we've got a list of great gifts that any grandparent will love.
Start a Tradition – One way to celebrate this holiday is to start a tradition together. Take a weekend trip together, share in an activity, take a walk, visit your local zoo or aquarium, have your grandparent tell a story from their childhood, just do something that you all will enjoy. Starting a tradition together will make you look forward to this holiday for years and years to come. Plus, it can be passed down from generation to generation.
Scrapbook – Make a scrapbook! These are very special. Start with pictures from their childhood, and add pictures throughout the years of their lifetime. A scrapbook is a great way to reminisce and share old stories. You'll be able to hear about their childhood and even hear stories from yours that you may not remember.
Hand Prints – Who doesn't enjoy hand print crafts? A hand print family tree, framed hand prints for each one of you, hand print canvas or even a photo of the child's hand and grandparent's hand. All of these are great items to frame and hang up in the house.
Poem As Art – A big trend now is subway art. You choose different words and paint them or place vinyl lettering on a canvas or board. So, think of all the words that describe your grandparents. This will make for a lovely wall hanging that they can enjoy and feel appreciated each time they walk by it.
Dinner – Of course, going the traditional route is always a great way to go. Let the grandchildren take their grandma's recipes and choose one to cook for dinner and dessert. This is a great way to pass down old family recipes and for the children to learn some fun techniques in the kitchen. Everyone will enjoy the time together in the kitchen.
So, celebrate Grandparents Day by spending quality time together, especially with these great gift ideas. This holiday is about showing them how much you appreciate them and are so thankful you have your grandparents in your life. So, celebrate!
