The recent outbreak of COVID-19 has put a damper on many people’s plans. Though the circumstances are unfortunate, it is important to stay positive. And who says you can’t still have a celebration? Though social distancing is being implemented nearly everywhere, you can still commemorate special occasions with drive-by parties!
Several different drive-by parties have begun circulating on social media. The idea is pretty simple—have guests load up in their vehicles and drive-by the location. They can hold signs, play music, or just express their creativity in some other way!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Decorations
- Dessert of your choice
- Digital gift card
It’s that simple!
What you’ll do:
Despite current circumstances, life still deserves to be celebrated! Milestones and major life events still elicit a celebration, and they’re probably the easiest party you’ll ever host.
Firstly, you’ll want to send out an invitation. Create a private group on social media, and announce all the details to your guests: the time, location, how the party will work, and of course what you’re celebrating! If people are bringing gifts, make sure to let them know to drop them off curbside.
On the day of the party, you’ll want to decorate the driveway or parking lot. Make sure that it looks festive for whatever occasion you’re commemorating.
Have each vehicle create a special sign or decorate their car, and make it a contest! You can also set out extra decorations curbside for people to utilize on their vehicles. The person(s) of the hour, whether that be the birthday boy/girl, the expecting couple, or the recent graduate gets to decide who wins the friendly competition.
If you want to offer an extra incentive, announce that the winner will receive a digital gift card—be sure to collect the winner’s email at the end of the party.
Once the party is over, you and your loved ones can enjoy dessert together. Just be sure to have fun, and make your drive-by party your own. And remember: you can still enjoy the company of other people during this time… even if it is from a distance!
