The holidays are over and 2016 is here! While you may not think of hosting a party during the winter months, many people are looking for something entertaining to do when the weather outside may be frightful. Plan a dinner party using one of these themes.
Winter Wonderland
Celebrate winter with a Winter White theme. Invitations, decorations and tableware can all be white. Encourage guests to wear white and serve white food! Whether it’s popcorn, white chocolate, pasta or cheese, there are many different options, which can be served formally, or in a more casual style. If white isn’t your color, chose another and have a color themed party!
Indoor Picnic Theme
Bring the party inside for your next dinner party by having an indoor picnic! First find the perfect indoor spot to host your fun picnic and then decide what types of food you want to serve. You can have a winter picnic with hot soups and warm rolls, or have a breakfast picnic with eggs, bacon, and pancakes. Lay out big blankets and encourage guests to wear comfortable clothes. If you have picnic baskets use them to store your dishes and plates. There are so many ways to be creative with this fun dinner party idea!
TV Land
Choose a favorite TV show, such as “Downton Abbey” or “The Walking Dead” and create a party theme that integrates elements from that particular show. The decorations and the menu can reflect the setting of the program or ideas may come from a particular episode. Guests may dress as their favorite characters. Consider making a signature drink or a spectacular dessert that represents the program. Many shows have winter premiere dates. Check local listings and, if possible, include a watch party in the plans.
A dinner party can be something to look forward to during these long winter days. This year is a leap year, so choose that extra day on the calendar to celebrate. Think about a more obscure holiday such as Groundhog Day to invite friends or family over for food and fun. With a little planning and some creativity, you can celebrate winter in style!
