Am I supposed to buy my bridesmaid's dresses or should I expect them to purchase it themselves?

Answer:

It is customary for the wedding party members to pick up the tab on their own formal wear. Do let your party know ahead of time about this purchase when asking them to be a part of your special day. If you would like to pay for a fraction or the entire purchase/rental of your wedding party's outfits, you are welcome to do so if your budget allows. If you can't fit it in your budget, however, be mindful of your friend's budgets as well and choose wear that isn't very costly.

What is a groom's cake and do I have to have one at my wedding?

A groom's cake is known as a southern tradition. It is a gift from the bride to her soon-to-be husband and it is supposed to reflect the personality of the groom. It is traditionally displayed next to the wedding cake and it is a different flavor. However, a groom's cake can be used as dessert for the rehearsal dinner or as wedding favors for your guests. The choice to have one is your own, but rest assured it shouldn't be expected.

It's up to you if you want to have a bar at your wedding–and an open one at that. Look at prices for open bar vs. cash bar and decide if you want to add that to your budget. If you want to save a bit on an open bar, consider giving your guests a limited amount of tickets for drinks. Your special day, however, will still be fantastic whether there is a bar or not.

Some people on my list live very far away and they most likely will not attend. Should I send them an invitation anyway?
