#AskTheBridesmaid – Do I Have to Pay for an Event I'm Not Even Going to Attend?
Dear Ask The Bridesmaid,
I have been asked to be a bridesmaid for one of my best friends. We met in college, and I'm so excited for her to tie the knot! The thing is, I'm from Europe and live here too, and she's from the U.S. and will be having the wedding there. That's not the issue cause I've already got a plan to save my money to be there for the bachelorette party, wedding, makeup, hair, etc. The issue is that the other bridesmaids have decided to plan another bridal shower aside from the bachelorette party, made plans without my input or another bridesmaid's who live pretty far away too, and expects us to pay for this.
I won't have the time or the money to make it for this bridal shower. I've already bought a wedding gift for my friend to send over, but I just don't think I should pay for this shower that I had no idea about, didn't help with the planning, or will even be there. What should I do because I don't know what to tell them? Am I being reasonable in thinking this way?
Please help,

#AskTheBridesmaid – Do I have to pay for expensive makeup and hair?
Dear Ask the Bridesmaid,
I am in a very tough spot for an upcoming wedding I will be in. My brother is getting married, and his future wife has asked me to be a bridesmaid. I'm honored she asked me, but the problem is that she expects us to pay for our hair and makeup. Which I wouldn't care about, except for the fact that it's gonna cost me $250!
That's stupid expensive, especially since I just got married, bought a house, and I know that it shouldn't cost that much. Like for my wedding, it was only $50 for my bridesmaids to get their hair done, and if they wanted their makeup done too, it would cost an extra $35. So to help out, I paid $15 each for the cost, and they all agreed to get their makeup done on top of that. I basically made it an option because I know what it's like.
What should I tell her because I need to save money, but I also don't want to make her angry or my brother angry?

There are industries dedicated to both shaving and beard care and each has taken on a life of its own. This got us to wondering…Where do grooms stand in the mix? Should they shave off the beautiful locks on their face to sport a more clean-cut look? Or should they let their beard run free? Continue reading "Should the Groom Shave Before the Wedding?" »
