I would not consider myself a party expert, but I do love to entertain, and have hosted my fair share of holiday parties. In my rookie years of party hosting, I was a mess. I never looked up from the oven or kitchen sink to enjoy the actual party. Now that I have a few under my belt, I have made a standard list of “musts” that I abide by when hosting any kind of party. I will be glad to share these with you; so, you can Continue reading "Holiday Party Tips" »
Components Of A Successful Kids Party
Parties in general are sometimes complicated to plan, but children parties always seem to be a little more stressful. Parents and grandparents always want their child’s party to be the most fun, the most decorated, and with the cutest theme. And why shouldn’t it be? The question for most party hosts is, “What kind of party will we have and how will I entertain these kids?”
These days it’s all about the theme and a must have before you can plan any further. There are endless theme ideas for children parties; some more elaborate and creative than others. Cartoon character or movie character parties are always exciting themes for children; plus invitations, decorations, and even party favors can usually be bought pre-made in corresponding theme motif thus keeping the planning stress at a minimum. Remember your child's interest when choosing a party theme.
Providing Entertainment
Without entertainment of some form a kids party isn't a party. One great and effortless form of children entertainment is inflatable game rentals. This entertainment option is perfect for kids’ parties. Many inflatable game rental companies have packages that revolve around themes. Set up is easy for "mom" since the rental company provides that service.
For more creative party theme ideas, the entertainment may need more work and planning. Camping themed parties and sleepovers are always great for school age kids and lend themselves to many forms of entertainment. If weather permits, you can have the party outdoors with a campfire, tents, and s’mores. For an inside party, you can set up tents or drape blankets indoors, and roast hot dogs over the fireplace. Telling stories around the "campfire" while roasting food is an inexpensive form of entertainment.
Guest Participation
The more the guests are allowed to take part in the festivities the more fun they will have. So plan your party around guests participation.
Need a great party theme and entertainment for older children? Try is to have a decade party. 70’s, 80’s, or 90’s themed parties are fun for both boys and girls. Ask guests to dressed in decade attire. With their attire the guests will become part of the decorations and involved in the party fun.
With any party the invitations, entertainment and decorations can be coordinated with the theme you choose. So start with a theme and build from there. Don't forget to check with your local bakeries. They can help you with themed cakes for the party and other themed sweet treats. After all you can't have a party without cake.
Holiday Office Party Etiquette: Celebrations For All To Enjoy
You're excited about this year's holiday office party or maybe a little nervous. If this is your first Christmas party with your coworkers, chances are great that you want to make a favorable impression and not do something silly. If you've been to many office parties in your time, you probably are well aware of the things that can happen when ditzy meets clumsy. This year, avoid the snickers that last until St. Patrick's Day by following a few simple office party guidelines:
First, if alcohol is served at your party be careful not to overindulge. Know your limits. While loosening up may be fun and promote more interaction among coworkers, appearing to have imbibed too much is not only very unprofessional and rude but also leaves an impression that stays with your coworkers long after the party. Set a professional but casual reputation for yourself by enjoying the party calmly.
Another great holiday party etiquette tip for your office is to be sure to Continue reading "Holiday Office Party Etiquette: Celebrations For All To Enjoy" »
Creative & Inexpensive Autumn Party Ideas
It seems like every year when Autumn rolls around, I always get in "party throwing mode". All I can think about is family and friends, good food, great weather and all of the vibrant colors of the earth that provide such a perfect setting. This year for my autumn get together, I wanted my theme and party decorations to be as natural as possible. I have really become a supporter of the "go green" movement and I wanted my autumn themed party to represent my position. So, I decided to do a pumpkin themed party.
There are several farmers markets and grocery stores around town that are selling the most unique pumpkins. Yellow, green, white, orange… and some even a rainbow of colors; which make for colorful, inexpensive decorations. For my table centerpiece I picked up a few of these matchless pumpkins and arranged them in the center of the dining room table. I turned a few of them on their side, leaving the larger ones standing upright in the middle, and intertwined some twigs and fall flowers throughout the arrangement, that I picked up at my local florist, to tie it all together. It looked fabulous. For the rest of the setting I picked up some inexpensive, solid-colored place mats that picked up the color of the pumpkins. I also used the pumpkins in other places throughout the house. I put a few up on the mantle, the book shelf, and on the coffee table as well with my year-round decorations to tie it all together.
You can prepare the party food yourself, but I always try to make things as easy as possible and hire a caterer. Whether you are hosting a dinner party or just a small get together for drinks and hors’ deourves, a caterer can make your party planning easier. This year the caterer used worked within my theme. She is prepared a fruit tray with pumpkin dip as an appetizer and a pumpkin cheese cake for desert.
Just a little side note if you are hosting a large party or an outdoor event.
For large parties, not hosted inside the home or hosted in an outdoor setting, these decorations can be applied to tables at that venue. Chairs, tables, and even table cloths can be rented from a party supply rental vendor in your area. I often use a company like this for larger functions. They deliver and pick up the rented items too, so it is hassle free for the host.
Entertainment for autumn parties is really up to the host. I prefer mellow, low key, music played by a small band. This sets the mood for the fall ambiance of relaxation. My guests will be entertained by the beautiful sounds of an acoustic guitar player I have hired.
These are just a few of the autumn party ideas I use. Hope your party is as much fun as mine.
